Joost Buyck

Born in 1505, Joost Buyck served as the mayor of Amsterdam during pivotal years in the city’s history, including during The Eighty Years’ War that resulted in the independence of the Dutch Republic

Under his stewardship, Amsterdam flourished as a centre of trade and innovation, laying the groundwork for its future as a global city.

He remains the longest-standing mayor in the City of Amsterdam to date.

DEFINING COMMERCE
Hendrick Buyck

Born in 1551, Hendrick Buyck co-founded the Dutch East India Company, investing 12’000 florins.

First co-initiating the Compagnie van Verre in 1594, Hendrick Buyck in 1602 co-founded the Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie (V.O.C.) and served as managing director.

The Dutch East India Company, which brought porcelain, spices, and exotic goods to Europe, was the first business entity to connect the East and West; indeed, it was the first common stock multinational corporation.

Alfons Buyck

Upholding the entrepreneurship tradition, Alfons Buyck established the first bus and taxi lines in the Flemish Region of Kortijk.

It was Alfons’ initiative and creative business acumen that crafted these new businesses from the ground up, combining this with his passion for cars and pigeon racing.

Constant Buyck

Constant Buyck’s experience in stone-masonry shaped the professional trajectory and commercial intuition exhibited by his son, Marcel Buyck.

Marie-Louise Buyck-Coopman

As a young graduate Marie-Louise Buyck-Coopman, along with her beloved husband Marcel Buyck, established the first retail stores in the entrepreneurial region of Kortrijk and Waregem in Flanders, Belgium

She has instilled the strong values that define the current Buyck generations.

On January 1st 1983, the family management company is established in Kortrijk under the name MACO.

FROM BELGIUM TO THE MIDDLE EAST
Tony H. M. Buyck

Further building on the solid real-estate expertise, Tony Buyck takes the step to expand experience to the Middle East, true to the repute of all entrepreneurs from Waregem.

He is leading, together with Johan Beerlandt, the activities of Six Construct, which would later be known and today continues to operate under the BESIX brand.

With activities in the Sharjah, the third-most populous city in the United Arab Emirates, and in Cairo, Egypt, they manage large projects for the firm in the Middle East.

Tony H. M. Buyck

With the growing demand for single-family residential units in cities like Brussels, the family relocated the headquarters to Brussels, and proceeds with a capital increase.

David A. M. L. Buyck

Levering on experiences from the family’s successful businesswomen and men, David Buyck opened up the advisory office with a new office in Luxembourg.

ABOUT AN ICON

Our Brussels asset in the Warmoesstraat, is an integral piece of our DNA, it was commissioned by King Leopold II in 1903.

The landmark recognized as a Belgian architectural monument since 1994 and added to the Brussels heritage list in 1997.

Recognized the year, Buyck Family Advisory Office was relocated to Brussels, it is a tribute to the longevity of our family’s vision.

It echoes the historic significance of the East India Trading Company’s founding address in Amsterdam.

A testament to legacy, it remains a cornerstone of the Buyck family’s heritage and vision.
