Consciousness and purpose are comforting

Born in 1505, Joost Buyck served as the mayor of Amsterdam during pivotal years in the city’s history.

His leadership spanned multiple terms, including 1552, 1560, and 1568, where he played a crucial role in navigating the complexities of governance in a rapidly evolving urban landscape. Under his stewardship, Amsterdam flourished as a center of trade and innovation, laying the groundwork for its future as a global city.

Joost Buyck’s commitment left a lasting impact on the city’s development as he remains the longest-standing mayor in the City of Amsterdam to date.

Defining Commerce

Hendrick buyck

Founding the WORLD’S First Common Stock Company

Born in 1551, Hendrick Buyck co-founded the Dutch East India Company, investing 12,000 florins. In 1594, upon its founding, Hendrick Buyck served as managing director of the V.O.C. (Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie).

The Dutch East India Company, which brought porcelain, spices, and exotic goods to Europe, was the first business entity to connect the East and West; indeed, it was the first common stock multinational corporation.

ENTREPRENEURS AT HEART

Alfons buyck

continued presence in the low countries

The Buyck family’s progress in entrepreneurship continued as they upheld this tradition by establishing some of the first bus and taxi lines in the region.

It was Alfons Buyck’s initiative and creative business acumen that crafted these new businesses from the ground up, combining this with his passion for cars and pigeon racing.

BUILDING CHARACTER

constant buyck

THE BRICK AND MORTAR BUSINESS

Constant Buyck’s experience in stonemasonry is regarded as having had a pivotal influence on his comprehension of construction and more broadly what one would qualify real estate ‘economics’.

This foundation is what is believed to subsequently shape the professional trajectory and commercial intuition exhibited by his son, Marcel Buyck.

At the intersection of ambition and entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with dexterous abilities, the groundwork for the establishment of the first retail stores in the real estate sector lays.

the first retail department stores

At the age of 35, Marie-Louise Buyck-Coopman, along with her beloved husband Marcel Buyck, established the first retail stores in Flanders, Belgium.

She has instilled the strong values that define the current Buyck generations, a legacy characterized by our consideration for our partners in business.

The families and entrepreneurs who share these values and long-term perspectives hold our greatest regard.

LEGACY & EXPERIENCE

buyck family advisory office

true to our legacy

Since 1998, the Office is a combination of the legacy of experiences and challenges faced by the family’s successful businessmen and women.
It has emerged from the expanding portfolio allocation that a governance framework was required for the continued preservation of the investments.
These principles of trust, transparency and commitment are the foundation for a family-focused advisory office.
The office is located on Warmoesstraat, the eponymous street in Amsterdam where the founders of the East India Trading Company met to establish the V.O.C.

The Warmoesstraat office in Brussels, built in 1903, is recognized as a Belgian architectural monument since 1994 and added to the Brussels heritage list in 1997.
