Metastable Ventures has signed a letter of intent with District Cleantech, the Charleroi-based innovation hub for sustainable technologies, entrepreneurship and industrial collaboration, formalising Metastable’s membership in the ecosystem. The letter was signed in Luxembourg on 20 March 2026 by David Buyck and Robin Henri for Metastable Ventures, and by Margaux Monforti on behalf of District Cleantech.
The agreement builds on a relationship already active on the ground: Metastable has previously brought portfolio companies to District Cleantech’s programming, including a recent spotlight on CellX Biosolutions’ PFAS biodegradation technology. This letter of intent gives that collaboration a formal footing and a shared plan of action.
The ambition: turn District Cleantech’s industrial network into pilot projects, demonstrators and co-development opportunities for Metastable’s portfolio of climate and regenerative-tech startups.
A shared agenda for cleantech collaboration
Under the agreement, Metastable Ventures will help its startups access Belgian industrial and corporate partners, with an active follow-up process designed to turn early conversations into concrete collaboration, co-development or deployment opportunities. Metastable will put forward a selection of high-potential startups willing to engage in pilot projects, demonstrators or industrial partnerships, with particular emphasis on energy transition, decarbonisation, circular materials, and soil and ecosystem regeneration.
District Cleantech, in turn, acts as facilitator across its regional ecosystem — connecting startups, industrial companies, research centres and public actors, and supporting the identification and structuring of pilot projects. Where relevant, the District can also host pilots and demonstrators directly, on its own infrastructure, buildings or available land, to test solutions under close-to-market conditions.
Building toward European projects
Beyond bilateral introductions, the two organisations intend to jointly identify and develop European and international projects, particularly within funding programmes tied to innovation, energy transition and sustainable industry. Metastable’s startup network is positioned to help build consortiums and deliver on collaborative projects involving District Cleantech’s ecosystem — and, in the other direction, to widen the District’s international reach by connecting it to relevant foreign startups and innovation ecosystems.

Governance and next steps
A kickoff meeting, organised by the District Cleantech team, is scheduled within the first three months of signature to formalise specific projects and build a joint action plan for the year ahead, which will be incorporated into Metastable’s member profile. Progress will be tracked against concrete indicators: the number of B2B meetings held, pilot projects initiated or hosted within the District, tangible collaborations between startups and companies, and joint European projects developed.
Metastable joins at Regular membership status, with the first year’s contribution offset by in-kind participation — attending meetings and workshops and contributing expertise to the ecosystem, rather than a fixed commitment of service volume. As with any letter of intent, the scope of collaboration is expected to evolve, with a formal review after the first year.
